STC Teams with City of Cleveland, WRAAA & Ohio National Guard in Vaccination Efforts
STC is one key link among many area organizations and facilities who are mobilizing to ramp up access for COVID vaccinations. On Thursday, February 11th 2021 and Friday, February 12th 2021 STC provided shuttle service to senior high-rise buildings in Cleveland in a cooperative effort between the City of Cleveland, the Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging (WRAAA) and the Ohio National Guard. STC Drivers, City of Cleveland Police and Safety, WRAAA staff and Ohio National Guardsman were all present to ensure older adults received priority access to the COVID vaccine.
STC began providing trips to individual clients by taking them to area vaccination centers in late January. By early February, STC had completed around 100 individual client trips, but the cooperative effort and shuttle service on February 11th and 12th targeted a larger population of older adults in residential facilities all at once. This effort reaches senior groups as a whole in one collective preventative measure. STC ran two shuttles during the two days to maximize transportation access and ensure physical distancing on board the vehicle.
STC driver Donna Williams assisted senior residents directly and spoke with police officers and guardsman on site. As one resident commented, if it was not for STC she did not know how she would have been able to get to a vaccination center. Police officers and guardsman also expressed their appreciation to STC and our drivers. To view please go to:
