STC Driver Training
Why We Stand Out - The Training of STC Drivers Emphasizes Service & Safety for Riders
STC stands out among transportation organizations serving older adults in Cuyahoga County by providing exceptional customer care, door-to-door service, safety and mobility support. Driver training is an important reason riders receive this high level of service and safety. STC's training program ensures riders receive the best possible experience before they ever board the vehicle.
New drivers must complete an application, pass a criminal background check and drug screen, and other vetting before they are hired, and begin classroom and on-the road training. Training components include customer service, first aid and CPR, driving safely, vehicle and equipment operations and mobility support procedures.
A defensive driving course ensures drivers recognize, avoid and prevent unsafe situations. Mobility support includes personal assistance to meet individual client needs from their door to the destination. Appropriate wheelchair securement training is on-going and refines assistance techniques.
STC driver training is compliant with Federal and State laws, as well as rules under the Older American's Act, and the Ohio Department of Aging. In celebrating our 16th year anniversary this year, STC continues to optimize its training programs, customer-centric model and provide the best possible service to riders.
